§ 8156 County Drainage Transfer Authority

• •A county can give all its drainage improvements (like ditches or pipes) to a flood control district if most of the supervisors agree.
• •The flood control district then takes full control of those drainage improvements.
• •The county can't pick and choose—it has to give all the drainage improvements, not just some.

A county has old drainage pipes that keep flooding neighborhoods. The supervisors vote and decide to give all the pipes to the local flood control district.

Once the vote passes, the flood control district is now in charge of fixing and maintaining those pipes, not the county.
