§ 6371 Dam Removal Flood Safety

• •If you have a dam, you must remove enough of it so floods can pass safely.
• •This rule is to stop floods from causing big problems downstream.
• •You have to prove that you removed enough of the dam to let floods through.

A farmer has a small dam on their property to create a pond. During heavy rains, the pond overflows and causes flooding in the town below.

The farmer must remove part of the dam so that when it rains a lot, the water can flow safely past the dam and not flood the town.
