§ 2577 Claim Submission Deadline

Key Takeaways

  • •If you don't tell the board about your problem during their check, they'll decide what you get based on what they found.
  • •You get 30 more days to tell them after they write to you.
  • •If you don't tell them in those 30 days, they'll just use what they already know.

Example

Your neighbor's tree falls on your fence during a storm. The city comes to check the damage but you're on vacation. They leave a note saying you have 30 days to tell them how much it'll cost to fix your fence.

If you don't tell the city how much the fence repair costs within 30 days of getting their note, they'll decide how much money you get based on what they saw when they checked the damage.
