§ 22161 District Flood Protection Contracts

Key Takeaways

  • •A district can make deals with the government or others to build or manage things like dams or flood barriers to stop floods.
  • •The district can pay for these projects using its own money or special funds.
  • •The district doesn’t have to do this if it doesn’t want to—it’s optional.

Example

A small town keeps flooding every year, ruining homes and farms.

The town can team up with the state to build a big wall to block the water. The town can use its own money to help pay for it, but it doesn’t have to if it can’t afford it.
