§ 22082 Conduit Headgate Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you own a pipe or channel that takes water from a river or dam, you must build a strong gate at the start of it.
  • •This gate must be kept in good working condition so it can control the water flow properly.
  • •The local water district must approve how you build and maintain this gate.

Example

A farmer has a ditch that takes water from a river to water their crops.

The farmer must put a strong gate at the start of the ditch, right where the water is taken from the river. This gate must work well and not be broken. The local water district will check to make sure the gate is good enough.
