§ 14016 Drinking Water Grant Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •The state won't give money to fix drinking water unless the local government can't afford it on their own.
  • •The local government must show a plan to fix the water problem before getting the money.
  • •The state health department must check and agree that the plan follows the rules for safe drinking water.

Example

A small town's water is dirty and makes people sick.

The town asks the state for money to clean the water. The state says yes only if the town proves it can't pay for it alone and shows a good plan to fix the water. The state health department checks the plan to make sure it will make the water safe.
