§ 137 Revolving Fund Expenditure Tracking

Key Takeaways

  • •The Department of Water Resources must track how money from a special fund is spent.
  • •If there's leftover money in the fund, it can be moved back to where it came from.
  • •The Department of Finance has to approve moving the leftover money.
  • •If the money came from somewhere other than the state, it goes back as agreed when it was given.

Example

Imagine the state has a piggy bank for water projects. They take $100 from the piggy bank to fix a dam but only spend $80.

The leftover $20 can be put back where it came from, but only if the Department of Finance says it's okay. If the $100 was a gift from a city, the leftover $20 goes back to the city as agreed.
