§ 11953 Origin Area Protections Preserved

This law says that other laws protecting water sources (like rivers or lakes) stay the same and aren't changed by this chapter.

Key Takeaways

  • •This law doesn’t change or weaken other laws that protect water sources.
  • •Older laws about protecting rivers, lakes, and other water sources still apply.
  • •If another law already protects a water area, this chapter doesn’t override it.

Example

A factory wants to dump waste near a river that supplies drinking water to a town.

Even if this chapter has rules about waste, the factory still has to follow the older laws that protect the river as a water source.
