§ 11577 Eminent Domain Rights Preservation

This law says the government can still take private property for public use, even if other laws say something different.

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can take private property for things like roads or schools.
  • •Other laws can't stop the government from doing this if they really need the land.
  • •They usually have to pay you fairly for the land they take.

Example

The government wants to build a new highway and needs to use your land to do it.

This law means they can still take your land for the highway, even if other rules might seem to stop them.
