§ 1082 Witness Fees For Board

This law says that if a witness is called to court by the board (not by a person involved in the case), the board must pay for their travel and fees.

Key Takeaways

  • •If the board (court) calls a witness, they pay the witness's fees and travel costs.
  • •This only applies if the witness wasn't asked to come by someone in the case.
  • •The money comes from the board's budget.

Example

Imagine you see a car crash, and the court asks you to come talk about what you saw.

If the court calls you (not the driver or anyone else in the case), they have to pay you for your time and travel.
