§ 22514 Fire Hydrant Parking Restrictions

This law says you can't park your car within 15 feet of a fire hydrant unless someone is sitting in the driver's seat ready to move it or there's a special rule in your town.

Key Takeaways

  • •Never park within 15 feet of a fire hydrant unless someone is in the driver's seat ready to move the car.
  • •Some towns might have different rules, but they'll post signs if the distance is less than 10 feet.
  • •Fire department vehicles are allowed to park close to hydrants.

Example

You park your car close to a fire hydrant while running into a store.

If your car is more than 15 feet away, you're fine. If it's closer and no one is in the driver's seat, you could get a ticket.
