§ 16433 Insurance Cancellation Notification Requirement

• •Notify the department in writing when insurance is cancelled.
• •The notice must be sent within 10 days of the cancellation becoming final.
• •Coverage does not continue past the cancellation date.

A construction company’s liability insurance is cancelled on March 1. The company must send a written notice to the department by March 11.

The notice lets the department know the insurance is gone, and the company cannot claim any coverage after March 1 because the law says coverage stops on the cancellation date.
