§ 13203 Driver License Suspension Limits

This law says a court can't take away your driver's license for longer than the law allows. If they try, it doesn't count, and you can get your license back.

Key Takeaways

  • •Courts can't suspend your license longer than the law says.
  • •If a judge tries to suspend it for too long, that order doesn't count.
  • •You can get your license back even if the judge says otherwise.

Example

A person gets caught speeding and the judge says they can't drive for 2 years.

If the law only allows a 1-year suspension for speeding, the judge's order is invalid, and the person can get their license back after 1 year.
