§ 97003 Santa Barbara Transit Dissolution

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about a special vote to decide if the Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District should be closed down.
  • •The ballot (the paper you use to vote) must have clear instructions, just like in big elections.
  • •The ballot will ask: 'Should the Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District be dissolved?' with 'YES' and 'NO' options.

Example

Imagine your school has a bus system that takes kids to and from school. One day, the school asks all the parents to vote on whether to stop the bus system completely.

This law is like that vote. The people in Santa Barbara get to vote 'YES' if they want to close down the transit district (which runs buses and maybe other transportation) or 'NO' if they want to keep it running. The voting paper must be clear and easy to understand, just like in other big elections.
