§ 93001 Transit District Annexation Terms

• •A transit district can join another district if the bigger district agrees to take them in.
• •The bigger district must promise to give good or better bus/train service to the smaller district.
• •The people in the smaller district shouldn’t have to pay way more in taxes than the services they get.
• •If all these things are true, the two districts work out a deal to make it happen.

A small town has its own bus system, but it’s old and slow. The big city next door has a fast, new bus system and agrees to let the small town join them.

The big city must promise to give the small town good bus service, and the small town’s people shouldn’t pay way more in taxes than what they get from the better buses. If that’s all good, they make a deal to combine the bus systems.
