§ 7912 Utility Employment And Investment Reporting

Key Takeaways

  • •Big companies (with more than 750 workers) that provide things like water, electricity, or gas must send a report every year.
  • •The report must include how many customers they have in California and what percentage of their total customers live in California.
  • •They also have to say how many people they employ in California and what percentage of their total workers are in California.
  • •The report must include how much money they spent on big, long-lasting things (like buildings or machines) in California that year.

Example

A big electric company has offices in many states but serves a lot of customers in California.

This company must tell the government every year how many customers they have in California, how many workers live there, and how much they spent on big equipment in California. This helps the government keep track of how the company is helping California.
