§ 50152 Retirement Board Eligibility Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The retirement board decides who can join the retirement system and get benefits.
  • •The board makes the rules for how long you can get benefits and can change them.
  • •If the board says no, you can't change their decision unless they lied or were really unfair.

Example

If you work for the city and want to retire, the retirement board checks if you can get money every month.

They decide if you worked long enough and if you can get the money. If they say no, you can't get the money unless they made a big mistake.
