§ 4460 Propane Emergency Contact Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Operators must post emergency phone numbers (like for the operator, supplier, fire department, and a responsible person) where everyone can see them.
  • •They must also keep a copy of emergency procedures on site in case of a propane leak or other safety issue.
  • •Operators must tell all customers where to find these emergency numbers and procedures.
  • •If they don’t follow these rules, they can be fined.

Example

A gas station that sells propane doesn’t have emergency numbers posted anywhere.

If there’s a propane leak and no one knows who to call, the operator can get in trouble and have to pay a fine.
