§ 29047 Public Utility Safety Oversight

Key Takeaways

  • •The Public Utilities Commission makes sure the district follows safety rules to keep workers and the public safe.
  • •The commission checks all the work done by the district to make sure it's safe.
  • •If the commission has to spend extra money to check the district's work, the district has to pay them back.
  • •The district and the commission agree on how much to pay back. If they can't agree, the Director of Finance decides.

Example

Imagine a company that fixes power lines. The Public Utilities Commission checks their work to make sure it's safe.

If the commission has to hire extra people to check the company's work, the company has to pay for that extra help. They agree on the price, and if they can't, the Director of Finance steps in to decide.
