§ 28767 District Personnel Management

Key Takeaways

  • •The board can create a system to hire and keep good workers who are happy and do their jobs well.
  • •The board decides what jobs are needed and how much each job pays.
  • •The board can also get rid of jobs if they are not needed anymore.
  • •Usually, the general manager is the one who picks people for these jobs.

Example

A school district needs more teachers because more kids are coming to the school.

The school board can decide to create new teaching jobs and set the pay for these jobs. They can also choose to remove jobs, like if fewer kids need bus rides, they might get rid of some bus driver jobs. The general manager of the school district would then hire people for the new teaching jobs.
