§ 27455 Special Transit District Taxation

• •Only property inside a special transit service district can be taxed to pay for the district's bonds.
• •These taxes will keep being collected until the bonds are fully paid off.
• •The way these taxes are collected must follow the rules in Section 25893.

Imagine a small town creates a special area to improve its bus system. To pay for the new buses, the town issues bonds.

Only the people who own homes or businesses in this special area will have to pay extra taxes to cover the cost of the new buses. These taxes will stop once the buses are fully paid for.
