§ 24301 Insurance Exemption Reporting

Key Takeaways

  • •If you're in a car crash, you might need to give the state money to prove you can pay for damages.
  • •You don’t have to give this money if you already have car insurance or another good reason.
  • •The state will believe what you tell them about your insurance unless they find out you lied.

Example

You get into a car crash and the other driver says you have to pay for their damaged car.

If you have car insurance, you don’t have to give extra money to the state. But if you don’t have insurance, you might have to give them money to show you can pay for the damage.
