§ 21684 Aviation Fund Payment Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Public entities (like cities or counties) must create a special fund just for airport and aviation stuff to get money from the state.
  • •They must also add their own money to this fund (between 10% and 50% of the project cost) before getting state money for a project.
  • •The University of California must follow the same rules if they want state money for their airports.
  • •If a city or county near a UC airport helps pay, that money can count toward the required amount.

Example

A city wants to fix up its airport runway and needs $1,000,000 for the project.

The city must first create a special fund just for airport stuff. Then, they must add their own money to this fund (let's say 20% of $1,000,000, which is $200,000) before the state will give them the rest of the money for the project.
