§ 2101 Public Utility Enforcement Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The commission makes sure public utilities (like water, electricity, and gas companies) follow the rules.
  • •If a utility company breaks the rules, the commission can take them to court to fix it or make them pay.
  • •The commission can ask for help from the Attorney General or local lawyers to enforce these rules.

Example

A power company keeps charging people extra money even though the rules say they can't.

The commission can step in, stop the company from overcharging, and make them pay a fine. If they need help, they can ask the Attorney General to take the company to court.
