§ 16036 County Treasurer District Duties

Key Takeaways

  • •A group (like a school or city board) can ask the county treasurer to handle their money instead of hiring their own treasurer.
  • •The group must vote and write a rule (called an ordinance) to make this happen.
  • •The rule must explain how the group can take money out of their accounts.
  • •The county treasurer gets a copy of the rule so they know what to do.

Example

A small town’s school board doesn’t want to hire someone to manage their money.

The school board votes and writes a rule saying the county treasurer will handle their money. The rule also says how the school can take money out when they need it, like to buy new books. The county treasurer gets a copy of the rule so they know the school’s plan.
