§ 13625 Special District Bond Challenges

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone wants to challenge the creation of a special district or its bonds, they have to do it quickly.
  • •They only have three months after the voters say 'yes' to the idea.
  • •After three months, they can't complain about it anymore.

Example

A town votes to create a new water district to build a big water tank. Some people don’t like the idea and think it’s a bad plan.

If those people want to stop the water district or the bonds for the tank, they have to go to court within three months of the vote. If they wait longer, they lose their chance.
