§ 13484 Special District Objections Hearing

Key Takeaways

  • •If you don't want your property to be part of a special district, you can tell the district secretary in writing before or during the hearing.
  • •The board will listen to everyone's complaints or objections about creating the special district or including their property in it.
  • •The board can pause the hearing and continue it later. They don't need to send new notices, just write down when and where the next meeting will be.

Example

Imagine your neighborhood is planning to create a special district to build a new park. You don't want your house to be part of this because you think your taxes will go up.

You can write a letter to the district secretary saying you don't want your house included. At the hearing, the board will listen to your objection and decide what to do. If they need more time, they can stop the hearing and continue it later without sending new notices to everyone.
