§ 13201 District Bonded Utility Financing

Key Takeaways

  • •A district can borrow money by selling bonds to pay for big projects like building or buying things they need.
  • •The money from the bonds can be used to buy land, buildings, or other stuff that helps the district do its job.
  • •This is only for things that are really needed or helpful for the district.

Example

A small town needs a new water treatment plant to provide clean water to its residents.

The town can sell bonds to raise money to build the water treatment plant. This means they borrow money from people who buy the bonds and promise to pay it back later.
