§ 105150 Employee Rights In Districts

This law says that creating the new district might hurt the union rights, pay, benefits, and job chances of the workers who belong to the district’s employee union.

Key Takeaways

  • •Creating the district could negatively affect union bargaining power.
  • •Wages and benefits for district employees might go down.
  • •Job opportunities for those workers could be reduced.

Example

A city decides to set up a new public works district and hires road crews who are part of a union.

Because of this law, the city has to recognize that the new district could end up lowering the workers’ wages, cutting their benefits, or limiting their ability to bargain together as a union.
