§ 105062 District Claims Exceptions

This law says that any request for money or compensation from the district must follow the rules in Division 3.6 of the Government Code, unless another specific law says something different.

Key Takeaways

  • •All money or damage claims against the district follow Division 3.6 of the Government Code.
  • •If another law specifically applies, that law can change the process.
  • •The rule covers every type of monetary claim the district might face.

Example

A parent sues the local school district because their child was hurt on school property and wants the district to pay for medical bills.

The parent has to use the claim procedures set out in Division 3.6 of the Government Code, because that is the rule that controls money claims against the district, unless another law specifically changes the process.
