§ 105050 District Officer Appointments

This law lets the board pick a general manager and, if they want, other staff like a secretary, engineer, lawyer, money‑keeper, and auditor, and says those people work for the board and can be let go anytime.

Key Takeaways

  • •The board must choose a general manager for the district.
  • •The board can also choose other officers like a secretary, chief engineer, lawyer, controller, auditor, treasurer, or any helpers it thinks are needed.
  • •All of these officers work at the board’s pleasure, meaning the board can replace them whenever it wants.
  • •The auditor, controller, and treasurer can be three separate people or one person can do two or all three jobs.

Example

A city water district board hires Jane as the general manager and also hires Tom to be both the controller and treasurer.

The board can choose Jane to run the district and can let Tom handle both money‑tracking jobs at the same time, because the law says the board can pick these officers and can combine the auditor, controller, and treasurer roles.
