§ 103329 Tax Rate Notification Requirement

This law says that as soon as the board decides on a tax rate, it must quickly send a statement of that rate to the county auditor.

Key Takeaways

  • •The board must act immediately after setting any tax rate.
  • •It has to send a written statement of the rate to the county auditor.
  • •The auditor gets the rate information right away, helping keep tax records up‑to‑date.

Example

The school board decides that property taxes will be 1.5% for the next year. Right after making that decision, they mail a paper or email to the county auditor showing the 1.5% rate.

The board follows the law by sending the tax‑rate information right away, so the auditor knows the new rate without delay.
