§ 103311 District Fund Transfers

• •The district can get temporary transfers of money.
• •It must follow the last paragraph of Section 6 of Article XVI of the California Constitution.
• •The transfers are meant to be short‑term, not a permanent change.

A school district needs cash right away to fix a broken water pipe, so it temporarily shifts money from its reserve fund to pay for the repair.

Because the law gives the district the power to do a short‑term transfer of funds, it can move the money quickly as long as it follows the rules in the state constitution.
