§ 431 Armory Use And Control

This law gives the state's Adjutant General the power to lease, manage, or operate armories for any lawful purpose, can enter contracts with the federal government for training, and requires all revenue from the armories to be placed in a special account for maintenance and improvements.

Key Takeaways

  • •The Adjutant General can lease or control armories for any lawful purpose.
  • •The state can contract with the U.S. to run an armory for federal training, with the federal government paying the state's costs.
  • •All income from armories must go into a dedicated account that funds maintenance, repairs, and improvements.

Example

A city wants to use its newly built armory for community events like youth sports and meetings.

The Adjutant General can lease the armory to the city or a nonprofit group for those events. The money earned from the lease is deposited into a state account that later pays for repairs, upgrades, and other operating costs of the armory.
