§ 211 Governor'S Military Reorganization Authority

This law lets the Governor rearrange, combine, split, or create state agencies and National Guard units to make them work better.

Key Takeaways

  • •The Governor can create, delete, split, or join any state agency or National Guard unit.
  • •Changes can be made whenever the Governor thinks it will make the state forces work better.
  • •The Governor can also adjust the number and ranks of officers to match federal National Guard training rules.

Example

The state wants to merge the highway patrol with the emergency management agency into one department.

The Governor can combine those two agencies, change their structure, or even create a new department so everything runs more smoothly, just as the law allows.
