§ 189 Militia Cash Revolving Fund

This law lets the Adjutant General use a $3,000 cash fund for militia needs without paperwork up front, but the money must be paid back later with proper receipts.

Key Takeaways

  • •The fund starts with $3,000 and can be used for any militia cash needs.
  • •Money can be taken without receipts first, but must be paid back later with proper paperwork.
  • •The Adjutant General is personally responsible for the money and must show the books when asked.

Example

The Adjutant General needs $600 right away to buy rifle parts for the militia.

He can take the $600 from the fund without first filing receipts. After buying the parts, he sends in the receipts and returns the $600 to the fund.

How to Calculate

Repayment Amount = Amount Drawn

  1. Decide how much cash is needed and take that amount from the $3,000 fund.
  2. After the purchase, gather itemized receipts and vouchers showing what was bought.
  3. Return the exact amount taken (the repayment amount) to the revolving fund.

The Adjutant General draws $1,200 for uniforms.

Result: Repayment Amount = $1,200 (the same $1,200 is put back into the fund after receipts are filed).
