§ 1650 Defense Property Entry Restrictions

This law lets anyone involved in defense work put up “no entry without permission” signs at the gates, docks, railway entrances, and every 100 feet along a water edge of their fenced property.

Key Takeaways

  • •Only applies to people or groups doing or planning defense work.
  • •The property must be fenced (enclosed) to use the signs.
  • •Signs must say exactly “no entry without permission.”
  • •Signs can be placed at gates, docks, railway entrances, and every 100 feet of waterfront.

Example

A company building military equipment has a fenced plant next to a river. They put a sign that says “no entry without permission” at each gate, at the river dock, and every 100 feet along the riverbank.

Because the plant is fenced and used for defense work, the law says they can put those signs to keep people from walking onto the property without being allowed.
