§ 7803 Heir Removal Of Remains

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone owns a burial plot and they die, their family can move the bodies buried there without going to court.
  • •The family just needs to sign a paper saying they are the rightful heirs.
  • •The cemetery will accept this paper as proof.

Example

Grandma owned a family burial plot. When she passed away, her kids wanted to move their dad’s remains to a new cemetery.

The kids can write a simple letter saying they are Grandma’s children and the cemetery will let them move the remains without needing a judge’s permission.
