§ 51455 School Facilities Fee Sunset

Key Takeaways

  • •Some old school money rules stopped working after January 1, 2002.
  • •A special fund to help schools with fees stayed open until July 1, 2016, but only for old promises or agreements.
  • •After July 1, 2016, any leftover money in that school fund went to help people buy homes.

Example

Imagine a school got money to build a new playground, but they had to pay it back later.

The school could still use the old rules to pay back the money until July 1, 2016. After that, any leftover money went to help families buy homes instead.
