§ 4838 Annexation Protest And Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •Everyone who cares about the annexation can speak up at the hearing.
  • •If you wrote a protest, you can take it back before the hearing ends.
  • •If most people don’t protest, the board has 30 days to decide: say no, say yes, or say yes but leave out some land that won’t benefit.

Example

A neighborhood wants to join a special district for better roads.

At the meeting, people can say if they like or dislike the idea. If not many protest, the board can decide to include the neighborhood, reject it, or include only parts that will benefit.
