§ 44390 Toxic Air Emission Reductions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about ways to make factories and plants safer by reducing bad stuff in the air.
  • •Factories can change what they make things from, how they make things, or add special equipment to catch bad air.
  • •They can't do anything that makes things worse for workers, people nearby, or the environment in other ways.
  • •Factories must check their plans to make sure they are doing these things right.

Example

A factory makes paint and uses chemicals that can make the air dirty and bad to breathe.

The factory can change the chemicals they use to safer ones, add filters to catch the bad air, or change how they mix the paint to make less bad air. But they can't use a new chemical that makes the paint safer to breathe but poisons the water instead.
