§ 44323 Industry Emissions Risk Assessment

Key Takeaways

  • •This law lets a district group similar small businesses together to check their pollution and health risks as a group instead of one by one.
  • •The businesses must be in the same type of industry (same four-digit code).
  • •Most of these businesses must be small and would struggle to follow the rules on their own.
  • •The pollution from these businesses must be easy to measure and calculate in a similar way for all of them.

Example

A group of small bakeries in a town that all release similar amounts of smoke and smells.

Instead of checking each bakery one by one, the town can group them together to measure their pollution and health risks as a group. This makes it easier and cheaper for the small bakeries.
