§ 40450 County Air Pollution Limits

• •Local county leaders can't make their own air pollution rules in areas covered by the south coast district.
• •The south coast district has the main control over air pollution rules in those areas.
• •Counties can only make stricter rules if allowed by another law (Section 40449).

A county wants to ban all wood-burning fireplaces to reduce smoke.

If the county is in the south coast district, it can't just make this rule on its own. It has to follow the south coast district's rules unless it gets special permission to make stricter ones.
