§ 40445 Emergency Vehicle Operation Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •During bad air pollution days, the south coast area can make rules to limit driving cars.
  • •These rules don’t apply to emergency vehicles like ambulances or fire trucks.
  • •Public utility repair vehicles (like those fixing power lines) are also allowed to drive.

Example

There’s a really bad smog day in Los Angeles, and the government says no one can drive unless it’s an emergency.

If you drive your car just to go shopping, you could get in trouble. But if you’re in an ambulance or fixing a broken power line, you’re allowed to drive.
