§ 33801 Redevelopment Agency Debt Obligations

Key Takeaways

  • •This law talks about old money owed by a group that helps fix up neighborhoods (called a 'redevelopment agency').
  • •The money owed includes loans, bonds, or promises to pay that were made before July 1, 1978.
  • •If the agency breaks a promise (like a contract), they might have to pay money or face trouble.
  • •This only applies to old debts, not new ones.

Example

Imagine a city group borrowed money in 1975 to build a park. They promised to pay it back using special tax money.

This law says that old promise to pay back the money is still important, even if it was made a long time ago. The group has to keep its promise.
