§ 33101 Agency Authorization Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •If a group wasn't allowed to do business before September 15, 1961, they can't start now unless the local government says it's okay.
  • •The local government must pass a rule saying the group is needed in the community.
  • •People in the community can vote to agree or disagree with this rule.

Example

A group wants to start a new community service, like a neighborhood watch, but they weren't allowed to do this before 1961.

The city council must first say this group is needed. Then, the people in the town can vote to decide if they really want this group to start working.
