§ 32243 Special Assessment Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •If at least two-thirds of the people voting agree, the district can add a special fee.
  • •This special fee is added on top of the usual yearly fees the district already charges.
  • •The special fee is collected the same way as the regular fees.

Example

A small town needs extra money to fix all the potholes on its roads.

The town holds a vote, and if at least two-thirds of the voters say yes, the town can add a special fee to everyone's bill. This fee is extra and doesn't replace the usual fees people already pay for things like trash pickup or street lights.
