§ 1814 Community Paramedic Definition

Key Takeaways

  • •A community paramedic is a regular paramedic with extra training.
  • •They must finish special classes and get certified in extra skills.
  • •They need approval from a local EMS agency to work in this role.
  • •This rule started in 2021 and will end in 2031 unless renewed.

Example

If someone calls 911 for a minor issue, like checking blood pressure at home.

A community paramedic can help because they have extra training for things that aren’t emergencies. They can do more than a regular paramedic, like helping people stay healthy at home instead of going to the hospital.
