§ 18021 Mobilehome Safety Violation Penalties

Key Takeaways

  • •If you break the rules about mobile homes (like not following safety rules), you can be fined up to $1,000 for each mistake.
  • •If you keep breaking the rules, the total fine can’t be more than $1,000,000 in one year.
  • •If you break the rules in a way that could hurt someone’s health or safety, you might have to pay a $1,000 fine or go to jail for up to a year—or both.

Example

A company sells mobile homes but doesn’t fix a broken stair rail that could hurt someone.

The company could be fined $1,000 for not fixing it. If they ignore more safety rules, the fines add up, but they won’t pay more than $1,000,000 in a year. If someone could get hurt because of the broken rail, the boss might also go to jail for up to a year.
