§ 14917 Assessment Collection Procedure

Key Takeaways

  • •If you don't pay your special fees (like for local projects), you'll be charged extra money as a penalty.
  • •These fees are collected the same way as your regular county taxes.
  • •If you don't pay for a long time, your property could be sold to pay the debt, just like with unpaid taxes.

Example

Your neighborhood gets a new park, and everyone has to pay a small fee to help build it.

If you don’t pay this fee, the county will add extra charges, just like if you didn’t pay your normal property taxes. If you keep ignoring it, they might even sell your home to get the money.
